CirQlar ELEMENT

The fabulous CirQlar family delivered another exciting musical affair with OTT and Phutureprimitive taking the crowd a wild ride.  Circus Alchemy was out in full force.  Sadie Spins and Mobot whirled through the crowd in a choreographed ballet with five hoopers and stunning white LED hoops.  The ambient dance piece was complemented with visual projections of the dancers.  Between headliners Faeya Tal brought down the house with a debut of her brand new, uptempo aerial hoop act.

We love where cirQlar is pushing events in Toronto and we look forward to many more collaborations.

Mackage: FW 2012

March 7, 2012: the Fermenting Cellar in Toronto’s Distillery District was the venue for designer fashion label Mackage‘s 2012 Fall & Winter show, and party afterwards. Circus Alchemy was pleased to entertain, with Amira stilting and spinning props and Sadie twirling LED hoops. The venue was decked, the crowd was too, and we were on full visual volume! Never has a runway seen such stilting and hooping. We even caught a little media attention, with this article on Elle Canada and this one on Toronto Life.  Sadie was even interviewed for Fashion Week Daily, read all about it here!

The Fiddler of the Apes!

Circus Alchemy members Amira, Faeya Tal and Mobot all made appearances in the most recent Lunacy Cabaret this past weekend.  The Fiddler of the Apes was a hilarious mash up show… think Jewish daughters crash landing on an ape planet only to be sold into slavery and finding true love along the way.

Amira played one of the leading roles as a daughter who falls in love with a dashing young ape.  Faeya Tal dangled high above the crowd in a breathtaking silks piece.  Mobot presented a new improvised contemporary hoop dance piece with original, live guitar and violin accompaniment from Marco & Andrew of Mergers & Acquisitions.

The Lunacy cast and crew delivered another fantastic show!

CA at Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay

Faeya Tal, Hala, and Sadie bringing colour to Y&D Square

Circus Alchemy added colour and smiles to Yonge and Dundas square today!

People gathered to celebrate day 73 of the Rick Hansen Relay, where 7000 Canadians relay across the country to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Rick’s trip around the world in his wheelchair. The event brought together relay participants, their families, and highlighted the ability we all have to reach our goals.

Of course for our stilters, Faeya Tal and Hala, those high hopes are a bit closer to reach!

Hala, lovely pink lady and trickster!

The AGO offers family programming every Sunday from 12-4pm through the Fall and Winter.  If you’re looking for fun activities involving arts and story telling definitely check it out!

Bezerka: Our Latest ~ cirQlar ~ Collaboration

CirQlar‘s most recent art-music-dance-circus mash-up was a wild success on the night of September 30th, 2011. Cheetahs, tigers, and hoops, oh my!

DSC_8856

“Circus Alchemy killed it,” according to producers Gregarious and Rollin Cash. With theatrical performance seamlessly integrated with hosts Ringmaster Dave and Emma Wemma, Faeya Tal and Mobot showed their feline flair in fullbody catsuits, performing a powerful array of acro-yoga and hooping moves alongside their trainer (and Toronto’s hooping queen), Sadie Spins. The night was filled with beautiful and highly skilled performances by our friends and colleagues Ben Burland, Diana Lopez, and Pyromeo, and the incredible musical madness of Dunkelbunt, Medicineman, Jonak K, Livingstone, Rollin Cash, DBoom, and more. The two rooms of the Great Hall were decked out as the Big Top main room (by Amiraworks)  and the Funhouse (by CirQlar). Hundreds of happy party-goers kept the dance floor (and the Terror Teeter Totter) going unto the wee hours. We can’t wait to share video of this event! But until then, here are some photos:

A great review of the event from the Toronto Social Review

Harvest Festival!

That’s right!  Circus Alchemy is heading up to the beautiful Midlothian Ridge near Burk’s Falls, Ontario for our 4th official appearance at the Harvest Festival.  Each year we adventure up north to enjoy this stunning property which is home to Peter Camani’s magnificent Screaming Head sculptures.

Sadie, Kitty, and Mobot will dazzle with playful hoop acts while Faeya Tal dangles high above the crowd during a brand new silks piece.  To wrap up the Lunacy Cabaret on Saturday evening we will all be lighting up with hoops, poi, and fans in an exciting fire act.  Each year we’re growing the show… incorporating new tools and thrilling new tricks!  Here is a snippet of some of the performances from last year.

YouTube Preview Image

For the first time ever Harvest is completely SOLD OUT!  Stay tuned in August next year for when tickets go on sale.  This is a fantastic community event that has grown into a beautiful celebration of autumn and we highly recommend checking it out; if you’re in to music, art and good company.
